    Do you have any plans to build heavy duty high caster upper a-arms for the 1996-2004 Toyota Tacoma?

    When were these available for 96-04 Tacomas? I was looking for new control arms back in April and didn't want to get uniballs. I saw the ones for 2nd gen Tacomas. I ended up buying SPC units. How did I miss these?

    I installed the JBA ARMs for a lifted WK, and am loving them. Thank you. Quick question, do I need to grease them or do them come pre-greased?

    I watched the video and found the answer regarding grease, can I order two more washers for the ball joint, I used them against the nut and they are marred with the edges of the bolt.

    This may be a dumb question but you guys have a option when selecting your UCAs- Option 1: pre-assembled with red powder coated.. Option 2: Un-assembled and un-coated.... my question is with the 2nd option, with it being "un-coated" do they need to be painted to be protected from rust? or do you guys base coat them with something. I'm just curious because i'm not a fan of red. and don't mind them being Un-assembled. but i just wanna know if i need to paint them to protect them from the elements. Thanks for you time!

    I have a set of standard high caster upper control arms for my 10 Tacoma. My question is that I bought a set of Energy suspension poly control arm bushings for my lower control arm and they came with the bushings for uppers as well. Will the Energy suspension upper control arm bushings fit in the JBA uppers if the ES bushings will fit the stock uppers? Thank you very much, and excellent product by the way.

      Chris, our bong is the same size as factory so yes it should fit. I am just concerned the poly will squeak over time. We have synthetic elastomer a-arm bushings. Synthetic Elastomer is a long-chained polymer with many urethane constituents. Over the years the formulation has evolved to yield stronger, yet softer compounds ideal for on and off-road applications. As the compound advanced to yield higher tensile strength, elasticity, and dynamic load capacity, JBA uses the bushing to help aid and tune suspension geometry and get rid of squeaky poly urethane bushings. http://jbaoffroad.com/2005-2015-tacoma-upper-control-arm-bushing-kit-jba-69000.html

        I just purchased the un-assembled and un-coated control arms that come with the Synthetic Elastomer bushings. The control arms have grease fittings for the bushings. I lubricated the bushings and steel sleeves with the grease supplied in the kit when installing them. What type of grease should I use and how often should I grease these bushings in the future?

    Hi Marlin,

    I just received the UCAs for my 1st gen Tacoma, and having a hard time understanding the instructions. It seems that I need to disassemble the ball joint in order to get it pressed into the spindle - is this correct? If so, what is the best way to remove the metal cap without the small tool that you use in the video? Thanks for your help.

      Aaron,
      yes, you need to remove the factory ball joint from the steering knuckle. You can beat it out of the steering knuckle with a big hammer if you do not have the tool to remove it.

      Hi I was wondering about this as well., I also just got my new UCAs for a 1st gen. To get my new ball joint onto the steering knuckle do I have to disassemble my new upper control arms then get a ball joint compressor to get it into the knuckle?

        The factory ball joint is in the steering knuckle, that needs to be removed, in its place JBA supplies a adapter slug that needs to be pressed in and the snap ring installed. The JBA ball joint drops in the slug.
        No need to remove the JBA ball joint from a-arms.

    Just purchased UCA for 1st gen Tacoma. All started with LBJ failure. Toyota design for LBJs is poor. Only way to get a safer design is buy aftermarket and all I can find is long travel. I don’t want long travel but do want a safer design. Will you all consider making a safer design factory length LCA?

    When purchasing the OME lift for the KJ if I also ordered the labor to assemble the front struts does that mean I won't need a spring compressor to do the front?

    I plan to purchase your struts and 4" coil springs for my 02 KJ. Will I need the "cut" cv axles? And do you mind explaining why? I'm not very familiar with IFS.

      Jeep Liberty CV axle assembly with the 1/2" machined off the face of the inner joint. With this assembly you can lift you Jeep Liberty 2-1/2" to 4.0" and the CV joints will not fail with normal use. On factory CVs with a 4.0" lift the CV bind up and split the inner CV housing. Also the cheep China CVs have a 3 bearing trunnion that does not hold up in a lifted vehicle.

    After I have the UCA’s installed in my wk with the lift and aftermarket struts and shocks, what is the specification of an alignment that needs to be done?

      My A-arms will get a lifted Jeep WK or XK within or very close to factory specks, as long as there is no other worn parts or damage form a collision. (with 1.0" to 4.0" lift)

      The caster is not critical and will not cause tire ware, The higher the lift the less caster you will have. The camber is setting IN and OUT of the top of tire. This will cause tire ware on inside or outside of tire. If there is a significant difference comparing the left to right then you need to look closer for other bad parts, lower A-arm bushings, Lower ball joints, bent K-frame, lose K-frame bolts or bent uni-body frame.

      Sometimes you get a lazy mechanic who does not want to do his job, He will say it can not be aligned because of the lift. Do not take that for a good answer. Tell him not to be concerned with the Caster but you want the Camber to be within range, this will minimize tire ware.

      JBA has thousands of A-arms installed on the Jeep KJ, KK, WK & XKs 99.9% of the time if there is a alignment problem it is a Jeep problem or a mechanic problem.

    Hello,
    I have a 2017 Tacoma TRD Off-Road I intend to lift with the OME BP-51 kit. I plan on using your JBA STD High Caster Upper A-arms for Toyota Tacoma 05’ plus, my question is regarding wheels and tires, I noticed, it says with 255-85-16’s it requires aftermarket wheel with 4.5” backspace, is that a min/max backspace? Would a 16x8 w/ 4” backspace work? If not would wheel spacers remedy this?

      You want the mechanic to hold the camber & toe to factory settings and get the caster around 3.5 degrees, the camber and toe will affect tire wear, more cater will help with stability at high speeds. (45 mph and up) you should not have to fight to keep the truck going straight down the road with your lift kit.
