2015 Chevy Silverado Upper Control Arm Engineering
Factory-stamped steel upper control arms fail under load because they use sealed bushings and pressed ball joints you can't service, just like the 2008 Silverado control arm. JBA upper control arms for the 2015 Chevy Silverado use 4140 chromoly construction with EZ Lube Bushings that feature 8 individual grease ports and pressure relief valves. You maintain them on your schedule instead of replacing them on the trail.
Max 90 Ball Joints are CNC-machined from chromoly steel and deliver 90-degree articulation without binding. Every suspension component is rebuildable. When a ball joint wears after 50,000 miles of rock crawling, you replace the joint, not the entire arm.
Designed for Lifted Chevrolet Trucks
Lifting your truck changes front suspension geometry. A 3-inch lift or larger pushes factory control arms past their design limits. Ball joints bind, bushings tear, and alignment specs fall out of range.
JBA control arms restore proper geometry on lifted 2015-2018 Silverado trucks. The extended design corrects caster angle and maintains full steering travel. Your vehicle tracks straight at highway speed and articulates cleanly over obstacles.
Why Stamped Steel Factory Arms Fail
OEM upper control arms use stamped steel to meet cost targets, not durability requirements. Sealed bushings can't be serviced, so contamination turns into wear and wear turns into slop. Pressed ball joints can't be replaced individually, which means a $40 component failure costs you $400 in replacement upper control arms.
Fleet operators running Chevy Silverado trucks in jungle environments document sealed bushing failure every 18 months under continuous load. JBA arms in the same fleet exceed 60 months with routine greasing through EZ Lube ports.
Rebuildable Suspension Components
Every part of a JBA upper control arm can be serviced or replaced. Ball joints thread in and out. Bushings press out with standard tools. You're not throwing away an entire arm because one joint is worn.
This isn't about saving money on replacement parts. It's about staying mobile when the nearest parts store is 200 miles behind you. Rebuildable means repairable, and repairable means you control your timeline.
Material Specs and Warranty
JBA uses 4140 chromoly steel for ball joint housings because it machines cleanly and resists impact deformation. EZ Lube Bushings are polyurethane with embedded grease channels that distribute lubricant across the entire contact surface, not just the center.
Every 2015 Chevy Silverado upper control arm ships with a lifetime structural warranty, similar to the coverage offered on our upper control arm for the 2007 Silverado. The frame is guaranteed against failure for as long as you own the truck. Ball joints and bushings are wear items covered under separate service intervals.
Fitment for 2015-2018 Silverado Models
JBA control arms fit 2015, 2016, 2017, and 2018 Silverado 1500 models regardless of trim. Verify your year, make, and model before ordering. Kits include all hardware and detailed instructions.
Installation requires standard hand tools and a press for bushing work. If you've done ball joint replacement on a front suspension before, you have the skills to install these arms.
Maintenance Intervals and Serviceability
Grease EZ Lube Bushings every 3,000 miles or after water crossings. Each bushing has 8 ports. Pump grease until you see pressure relief valves purge old lubricant. This takes 90 seconds per arm.
Inspect ball joints every 10,000 miles for play. Thread a dial indicator against the joint and check for vertical movement. Anything over 0.050 inches means it's time to rebuild.
How to Tell If Upper Control Arms Are Bad
Clunking over bumps, wandering at highway speed, and uneven tire wear all point to worn upper control arms. Jack up the front of your truck and grab the tire at 12 and 6 o'clock. If you feel vertical play, your ball joints are shot. Horizontal play means bushings.
Will Upgraded Control Arms Improve Ride Quality
Upgraded upper control arms don't make your truck ride softer. They restore proper suspension geometry so shocks and springs can do their job. If your factory arms are worn, new arms will eliminate clunking and improve steering response. If your factory arms are fine, you won't feel a difference until you lift the truck or load it hard off-road.
Upper Control Arm Replacement Cost
Shop labor for upper control arm replacement runs $200 to $400 depending on your market. The job takes 2 to 4 hours if you're pressing bushings and aligning the truck afterward. If you have a press and an alignment tool, you can do this in your driveway.
Removal and Installation Notes
Upper control arm removal requires separating the ball joint from the knuckle and unbolting the frame mounts. Use a ball joint separator or pickle fork, not a hammer. Torque frame bolts to factory spec and get an alignment within 50 miles of installation.
